PDRN Therapy
PDRN (Polydeoxyribonucleotide) therapy is an advanced, clinically proven regenerative injectable treatment derived from purified salmon DNA fragments. It has a well-established history in wound healing and regenerative medicine, and is increasingly used in aesthetic dermatology for skin rejuvenation, repair, and anti-ageing. PDRN stimulates tissue regeneration, promotes collagen synthesis, and has potent anti-inflammatory properties — making it one of the most versatile regenerative treatments available.
Understanding PDRN
Polydeoxyribonucleotides are short fragments of DNA that act on adenosine receptors in the skin. When injected intradermally, PDRN activates the salvage pathway for DNA synthesis, providing building blocks for cell repair and proliferation. It simultaneously upregulates growth factors — particularly VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) — improving blood supply, stimulating fibroblast activity, and accelerating tissue repair. Its structural similarity to human DNA makes it highly biocompatible.
Key Mechanisms of PDRN
Stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin.
Promotes angiogenesis — improved blood supply nourishes the skin.
Reduces chronic inflammation that contributes to skin ageing and damage.
Provides nucleotides as direct building blocks for cell renewal and DNA repair.
Enhances skin hydration through hyaluronic acid stimulation.
Conditions & Concerns Addressed
Skin ageing — fine lines, dullness, loss of elasticity.
Post-acne scarring and skin texture irregularities.
Periorbital rejuvenation — improving the delicate under-eye area.
Post-laser or post-procedure skin recovery.
Chronically dry, sensitive, or damaged skin.
Pigmentation improvement as an adjunct treatment.
Scalp health and hair restoration (as an adjunct).
The Treatment Process
1. Assessment & Treatment Planning
Skin condition, concerns, and treatment goals are evaluated to determine the appropriate PDRN protocol, injection technique, and combination with other treatments.
2. PDRN Injection Session
After topical anaesthetic application, PDRN is administered via intradermal microinjections (mesotherapy technique) using a fine needle across the treatment area. It can also be combined with microneedling for enhanced skin penetration. Sessions take approximately 30–40 minutes.
3. Post-Treatment Care
Mild redness, small injection marks, and temporary swelling are normal and resolve within 24 hours. Gentle skincare and sunscreen are recommended during recovery. Normal activities can typically be resumed the same day.
Benefits of PDRN Therapy
Clinically validated regenerative mechanism with a strong safety profile.
Stimulates deep skin repair and collagen renewal.
Anti-inflammatory benefits make it suitable for sensitive and post-procedure skin.
Improves skin hydration, brightness, and overall quality.
Excellent synergy with PRP, skin boosters, laser treatments, and microneedling.
What to Expect
An initial course of 4–6 sessions spaced 1–2 weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal results. Gradual improvements in skin radiance, hydration, and texture become visible within the first few sessions, with cumulative improvement over the full course. Maintenance sessions every 1–3 months help sustain the regenerative benefits. PDRN is often combined with other treatments for a comprehensive anti-ageing or skin repair programme.
